Discovered the dead body stuck in amber 99 million years

The discovery of small-size dinosaurs from the dinosaurs helps the world to better understand the evolution of some insects.

Scientists found a 0.536mm-long creature in a 99 million-year-old amber, Newsweek reported on June 11. It is called Kekveus jason , in which Jason is a Greek mythological hero.

Kekveus jason possesses feather wings similar to some of the current beetles. Maybe the team will not find extinct creatures long ago without amber. Small insects are very fragile and have no bones, they rarely fossil in the same way as large animals like dinosaurs. Amber or fossil resin helps protect and store very well the remains of some ancient flora and fauna.

The research team only named temporary genera for newly discovered beetles. They assumed that it could later be classified into another genus. However, the team also identified it as Ptiliidae, an animal family of many modern beetle species.

The new discovery helps people understand more about the evolution of Ptiliidae. It shows that some members of this group became very small at least since the Cretaceous period. Dinosaurs lived about 254 - 66 million years ago. Therefore, the piece of amber containing Kekveus jason formed during the dinosaurs lived.

"This tiny beetle lives in the Cretaceous period. It met real dinosaurs. The amber pieces with bugs stuck inside like a time box," commented Shuhei Yamamoto at the Field Museum.
