Discovering new plants for medicinal plants

Scientists have discovered the rosemary tree on Ong Mountain, which is valuable as a ornamental, medicinal plant or food for young worms.

Binh Thuan rosemary ( Aristolochia binhthuanensis TV Do ), recently discovered by Vietnamese and Russian scientists, published in the international journal Annales Botanici Fennici. The finding increases the diversity of the genus Group ( Aristolochia L. ) of the Aristolochiaceae family, which has about 600 species distributed mainly in the tropics and subtropics, of which Vietnam contributes about 28 species.

The genus Jupiter is one of the most valuable plant groups for ornamental plants, medicinal plants, and food for the caterpillars of the Papillon family (Papilionidae, Lepidoptera). In Binh Thuan, the team found this tree in Bien Lac - Nui Ong Nature Reserve.

The new species has a heart-shaped blade, nearly round, both sides smooth, with yellow flowers. Currently, scientists are studying more and building a classification key for all species of the subfamily Aristolochia in Vietnam.
