Do your dogs often tilt their heads like this? Why is that?

Indeed, this too adorable act will make so many people "softened" by their disruptive games (like biting your newly purchased shoes for example).

However, puppies not only "act deeply" to win your heart. In fact, they do so for another reason, and it involves "vision" .

Dog tilted head - deep acting or other reasons?

And the reason here! According to Professor Stanley Coren of the University of British Columbia, dogs that tilt their heads are more likely to observe facial expressions on their faces.

Along with the eyes, the mouth is the most important part of the face used to express emotions.

For dogs, they observe carefully our lower half and "check" whether we are exposing . teeth (because this is a threatening behavior to them).

The dog or head tilted is to observe the expressions on the owner's face more clearly.

To make this conclusion, Coren conducted a survey on 582 people. 62% of participants said that their pets often tilt their heads to one side when they communicate or pet with them.

However, among flat-faced dogs such as pug or bulldog, up to 52% do not tilt their heads. Meanwhile, 71% of the long-bitched dogs (the type of Greyhounds or the German Shepherd) often do this. This proves that the tilting action seems to originate from the muddy vision.

But why are nearly half of flat snout dogs tilting their heads? Coren explains that this may be how they show an uptick to our words.

"Perhaps tilting the head is related to hearing, or perhaps they just try to be adorable in front of their owners. Anyway, this research is also the first step in the search. the answer and at least we have some data to work on " - Coren replied in his article.
