Earth will not have 'secret'

Moscow engineers jokingly called their invention 'tool to assist the treasure hunter'. They designed the georadar - a new lightweight, high-sensitivity radar. The compact device "feels" the ground at a depth of 20 meters and can handle the most complex ground layers.

The new Georadar can be worn in a small suitcase. The sensitivity of this device is quite high. It can detect different layers of soil - sandy soil, even in very rocky rock, for example, it can "diagnose" rocks.

The new Georadar can operate for 3.5 hours without recharging. This device can detect at depths of up to twenty meters, depending on the type of soil. Engineer Viktor Kuzmin, one of the new georadar inventors, joked that the device was a gift to treasure hunters, investigators and archaeologists. It has large capacity and can book hands.

The principle of operation of this device is very perfect: electromagnetic waves are emitted into this or another environment, and then reflected from the dividing lines between the environments and buried. Reflective signals are recorded in the georadar.

New equipment can be used in many industries. We have designed the geordar first of all to do the most elaborate work: exploring communication systems and deep underground facilities, "Kuzmin said. For example, cables, pipes, concrete foundations, brick blocks.

In addition, georadar can be used to map the geology of layers on land, determine the boundaries of sand, ice, and location of groundwater. Designers say the device will help geographers study climate.

One of the tasks of the georadar is to explore the ground below roads: to know where there is a cavity, where there are large boulders. That helps repair old roads and build new roads. Another task is to search for explosives. "Georadar can detect any soil, including dry and frozen soil, and it will reveal all the secrets of the earth," said Viktor Kuzmin.
