Ebola vaccine may be completed in 2017
It is expected that 300,000 doses of Ebola vaccine will be tested in May.
Vaccine is being tested and marketed soon.
According to The Verge, the Vaccine Union Gavi recently announced at the World Economic Forum that the organization has approved funding for Merck & Co.Test Ebola vaccine to market within the next 2 years. The agreement requires Merck to provide Ebola vaccines to official health authorities by the end of 2017. At the same time, Merck must also provide 300,000 doses of Ebola vaccine for testing and use in emergency situation in May this year.
In the case of an emergency request, the Ebola vaccine will still need approval from the World Health Organization WHO. Previously, Merck's Ebola vaccine has been shown to be 100% effective when tested on people who are frequently exposed to this deadly virus in Guinea.
Last week, WHO issued a statement that the Ebola pandemic in West Africa ended, 42 days after the last patient infected with the virus was discovered in Liberia. However, only one day later, Sierra Leone announced that a patient who died a few days earlier was tested positive for Ebola. So far, Ebola has claimed the lives of more than 11,300 people in Africa.
