Ecstasy causes destruction of brain cells
A Portuguese study has just shown that the consumption of Ecstasy (also known as ecstasy) destroys early brain cells in the new mouse.
The study, funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Association, determined the impact of serotonine accumulation nerve endings, also called axons. MDMA, the main ingredient in Ecstasy, causes long-term accumulation of serotonine, creating a refreshing feeling.
The group of Portuguese researchers has demonstrated that serotonine builds up in granular bodies that produce energy for cells that make them exposed to oxidative stress and create defects in DNA. The production of reduced cell energy can cause neuronal death.
Researchers warn teenagers about the harmful effects of ecstasy on the brain. Previous studies by France and Britain have demonstrated that consumption of this mild drug may increase the risk of psychosis.
