Egypt: The new hot spot of bird flu
Egyptian Ministry of Health officials announced on April 11 that a 15-year-old girl died of H5N1 virus infection, bringing the total number of deaths due to the pandemic in Egypt to 14. people.
Marianna Kameel Mikhail, the new girl who died of bird flu infection, was taken to Cairo hospital last Thursday. She died on the evening of April 10 due to respiratory illnesses despite being treated with antiviral drugs Tamiflu and breathing through artificial respiration.
Doctors said the girl had been exposed to poultry before being taken to hospital for treatment. No one in this baby's family is infected with bird flu. According to an announcement by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, this is the 14th case of death among 34 cases of bird flu virus infection since the outbreak of this disease in Egypt, February 2006.
In addition to Asian countries, Egypt is the country with the highest number of people infected with H5N1 in the world. In 2006 alone, 34 people were infected with this deadly disease.
