Experimental anti-terrorism techniques

Picture 1 of Experimental anti-terrorism techniques At the QEII conference in London, Alistair Darling, the UK Transport Minister, said the airport security system could not be applied to rail and CCTV (which could detect suspicious activity). One of the new techniques to counter terrorism.

QEII is taking place in London, with traffic managers and security experts from around the world. Mr Darling said various new systems (which could detect suicide bombers) were being tested on railways and underground roads.

A millimeter waveform scanner can detect explosives and hidden weapons, and X-ray projectors will be installed at Heathrow Express next year. All new anti-terrorist systems will be tested at underground traffic in the capital, according to the Transport Ministry.

Mr Darling said it was not possible to apply airport security measures (checking each one) to the station because the train lines were too long.

The meeting also welcomed the presence of the head of the metro system in Madrid, waiting for him to present a feasible plan to prevent further terrorist attacks.
