About 100 km from Belize City - the largest city of Belize - Blue hole is truly a strange masterpiece of nature. It has a diameter of 300 m and a depth of about 120 m. Scientists believe that the Blue hole was once the mouth of a cave system in the Ice Age. When the ice melts and the sea level rises, the cave system is flooded and creates a giant hole.
