At the time of Enlightenment, the telescope was considered a luxury and was probably used to observe objects on land or at sea, not to see stars. They were created during the period when Amsterdam was a busy commercial center, attracting many skilled craftsmen.
Telescopes from 80 to 140mm long are made from animal's leg bones. The leg bones of animals, especially cows, are fairly straight and round, making them easier to manipulate into telescopes.
Each telescope has a pair of lenses - like the glass that Galileo uses - including a convex sphere and a concave sphere. The largest of the glass was found to be made up of two parts, joined together by thread thread, and had an extra bone, on which a small hole was used to adjust the aperture .
