Firefighters on board warships

The US Navy is about to test a robot that can move fast on narrow passages and escalate in modern warships that fire by throwing grenades.

The SAFFiR is designed to be human-like, with an infrared camera that allows it to detect smog and The gas sensor helps the robot detect the location of the fire. The robot's battery is designed so that it can operate for half an hour.

SAFFiR also has a hand designed to accurately throw fire-extinguishing grenades and move them firmly. In particular, the robot can be guided by hand signals or voice commands.

This firefighting robot is expected to be first tested in September 2013 on a retired US Shadwell warship. Shadwell served in World War II and is currently being used to train firefighters.
