The BBC reported that Kevin Scott, a 21-year-old student at De Montfort University, came up with the idea of creating a special bicycle to motivate the city people to use bicycles as a means of transportation. He thought that people would be more excited about riding bicycles if the vehicle was able to effectively prevent theft. So he decided to build a car that could fold in the middle. Users can build cars on many things in the street such as lampposts, stumps, columns and folds.

Scott's product differs from conventional bicycles in that it has a ball bearing in the frame. When tightening the ball bearings it acts like a regular bicycle, but if it loosens the user ball bearings it is possible to fold the frame.

Trial version of bending bicycle won the second prize in the annual competition for young designers in London. Hundreds of designers from the top universities in the UK participated in the competition.

Andy Salkeld, an official at the Leicester City Council, said that Scott's invention caused a significant increase in the safety of bicycles.

"Even if you get the car out of the light pole, you still can't ride on it to launch it. That makes people not think about stealing cars , " he said.

Scott is optimistic about the future of the car. You will use a bonus of £ 500 to complete the functionality of the trial version.

"With the public's interest in folding cars, I believe we'll see it soon in bike shops and on the streets," he said.
