Found woven fabric 2,700 years

Greek archaeologists have found a cloth woven 2,700 years inside a jar of corpses excavated in the Peloponnese.

According to the Greek Ministry of Culture, this yellow piece of cloth was found at a construction site in the city of Argos, 145 km west of Athens. In addition to this piece of cloth, there were pomegranates, ashes and some bones in the vase.

'The discovery of organic materials well preserved since ancient times is extremely rare,' the Greek Ministry of Culture said. As explained by archaeologist Alkistis Papadimitriou, this is a rare discovery because 'the fabric is an organic material that is easily decomposed'.
