Great effect from a small

'Small invention' is a humble way of speaking by Vu Dinh Phuc, a good farmer in ward 7, Da Lat city, Lam Dong province, about a machine for producing micro-organic fertilizer from garbage growing vegetables, flowers . at the leading vegetable and flower cultivation area in Vietnam - Da Lat city.

Phuc is a producer of organic fertilizer made by the machine.

His invention was awarded the second prize by the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Lam Dong Province for scientific and technical creativity and selected to participate in the national award in May.

Mr. Vu Dinh Phuc said that from the practice of growing vegetables and flowers of the family as well as of Da Lat farmers, the demand for organic fertilizer is huge; along with that, the issue of preserving the natural environment of Dalat in the process of growing vegetables and flowers is also a special concern. From that thought, he tinkered and invented a machine to process waste into micro-organic fertilizer for growing vegetables.

Starting research in 2006, his first homemade machine was born with a quite small capacity, only processed 3 3m / hour and not complete in terms of operation of the machine as well as micro-products. Born from this machine. He continued to improve and so far, the microbial fertilizer production machine has been completed.

With two main parts, the motor and the mill, along with a conveyor belt, the machine can be crushed, mixed with all kinds of waste and some agricultural accessories to use as organic fertilizer. The machine has 3 floors: rough cutting floor, pure ground and fine grinding floor, finishing products. Machine capacity up to 10m 3 / hour. Production cost of each machine is about 35 million VND.

According to the actual calculation of Mr. Vu Dinh Phuc, the economic efficiency of processing and using this fertilizer is very large. Firstly, micro-organism is very suitable, good for growing vegetables and flowers, increasing crop productivity compared to fertilizing some other fertilizers. If this fertilizer is used instead of other organic fertilizers, each hectare saves about VND 70 million per year. With this level, only about 50% of the area of vegetables and flowers in Da Lat needs to use micro-organic fertilizer to replace other types of fertilizer, the economic benefits of up to hundreds of billions of VND each year.

More prominent than some other innovations of barefoot engineers are environmental benefits. For a long time, waste from growing vegetables and flowers - especially vegetables of the Cross is always a problem in Dalat. Large amounts of waste (mainly discharged from pruning of finished vegetables) are often left on the shore by vegetable growers for self-decomposition, which has caused many pollution. The authorities and authorities regularly recommend and remind the treatment to keep the environment hygienic but due to the habit as well as to 'save' the cost, many farmers grow vegetables and flowers still do not perform.

With the use of agricultural waste, Vu Dinh Phuc's microbial fertilizer processing machine promises to contribute to cleaning up the 'agricultural waste' environment in Dalat. Along with that, micro-organic fertilizer from this waste is used to grow vegetables and flowers instead of some other fertilizers, especially the sauce (the residue of marine fish after producing fish sauce), capital used by vegetable growers in Dalat for many decades, making vegetable land inert, impervious .

Mr. Phuc said that he has produced and sold 21 machines he has developed so far, in which farmers in many provinces such as Binh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ninh Thuan . and take Bac Giang to buy. From his invention, Dalat Farmers 'Association has implemented models of self-managed farmers' groups to protect the environment. There are 8 groups with more than 100 farmer households voluntarily participating. The main activities of these self-managed groups are propaganda on environmental protection in local agricultural production, guiding how to collect, classify and dispose of waste for recycling into organic fertilizer, proceeding collecting all the waste of vegetables and flowers from farmers to sell to microbial fertilizer processing units in the area .

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truc, Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Lam Dong Province, to help farmers collect agricultural waste by themselves, processing micro-organic fertilizer according to the model of Mr. Vu Dinh Phuc needs to propagate this model. In the large areas of vegetable and flower growing areas of Lam Dong, farmers can see more clearly the practical and specific benefits they will get when using this micro-organic fertilizer processing machine.

At the same time, with the funding sources of the industrial promotion and agricultural extension programs, the locality should have support policies for mass production and especially to help farmers buy machines to make 'pilot models' at regions specializing in vegetables, flowers .

With the research, production and application of his products to grow vegetables and flowers on a 1.5 hectare area of the family, Vu Dinh Phuc said that every year, after deducting all expenses, his family reached the level Net profit from growing vegetables and flowers is over one billion. He also creates regular jobs for 4 workers with an average salary of 3.2 million VND / month and creates more jobs for more than 100 employees when planting and harvesting.
