H7N9 influenza virus in China has been controlled

Health experts from the United Nations agency on May 23 said that the H7N9 influenza virus outbreak in China is almost controlled, thanks to the work of restricting the operation of poultry slaughter markets.

However, the pandemic has caused an estimated economic loss of more than $ 6.5 billion for the country.

Global health officials are always ready to psychologically detect viruses, before warning that variants of this deadly virus can easily spread from person to person and become a global pandemic.

Chinese Health Minister Li Bin said the flu virus has been controlled, but there is no evidence that it has disappeared.

Chinese authorities have closed slaughterhouses and traded poultry temporarily or permanently if necessary to control the source of infection in 10 provinces.

The government has spent 600 million yuan ($ 97 million) to support the healthy development of the poultry industry.

The latest WHO statistics show that although the number of new infections has declined, the H7N9 bird flu virus that emerged in March in China has killed 36 people out of a total of 131 cases.

Earlier, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan noted and praised the Chinese government's quick response to controlling the epidemic, preventing the risk of a new influenza virus outbreak into a global pandemic.
