Hand, foot and mouth disease re-exported in China

Hand, foot and mouth virus in children is returning in China. Xinhua News Agency (THX) said that since early September, at least three children have been killed, 110 others have been hospitalized due to the dangerous virus in Kien Au City in Fujian Province.

According to THX, all three victims are children under 1 year old. There are still 22 children undergoing treatment at the hospital. The Fujian provincial government sent a team of experts to Kien Au City to assist local health workers in organizing city-wide child health checks.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common disease in children but in China it is related to a very dangerous virus EV71. This virus is capable of causing serious complications with symptoms such as high fever, paralysis, and meningitis. There is no vaccine to prevent this virus. In April and last year, mouth-to-mouth virus outbreaks occurred in Anhui province and spread throughout China, killing at least 42 children and making 27,500 others infected.

* The Hong Kong government has detected the H5N1 avian influenza virus in the body of a crow raising at home. The corpses of crows were found in trash in a populous district in Hong Kong. Reuters quoted Hong Kong Agriculture Commission as saying that crows are popular in Hong Kong and admitted that they did not know where the crow came from, why they were infected with H5N1.
