The Royal Navy has revealed details of a new air defense system capable of destroying enemy missiles at supersonic speeds, the Daily Mail reported. The new rocket was named Sea Ceptor.

According to the announcement, the Sea Ceptor will be launched from British naval vessels. This missile can reach speeds up to Mach 3 and can protect an area of 500 square miles on land or sea.

The £ 483 million Sea Ceptor missile development project is underway by MBDA UK.

The five-year project will create jobs for some 500 MBDA employees and facilities across the UK, including Stevenage in Hertfordshire, Filton in South Gloucestershire and Lostock. in Bolton.

Initially, Sea Ceptor was expected to be built to equip the Royal Navy's frigates. However, in the future, the missile could be modified for use by the Army and the Royal Air Force.
