India successfully tried Cruise supersonic rocket

On February 4, India successfully tested the BrahMos air-to-air supersonic missile, designed and built by weapons experts from India and the Russian Federation.

The test was conducted at Chandipur beach test site, 200 km northeast of Orrisa state's capital Bhubaneswar. Indian defense sources said the test missiles were fired from a mobile launch pad and the results achieved every goal.

BrahMos missiles have a range of up to 290 km, can carry warheads weighing 300 kg. Despite being air-to-air missiles, BrahMos can fire up from the ground, at sea, under submarines, and on airplanes. BrahMos has a total weight of 3 tons, flying much faster than the current popular Cruiser types of countries.

The name BrahMos is a combination of the first two rhymes of the two BrahMaputra rivers of India and the Moscow River of the Russian Federation.
