Unesco's Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization has recognized Bridgetown and Garrison Historical Center of Barbados as a World Cultural Heritage in 2011.
Currently, Barbados has five major cities: Bridgetown, Oistins, Lowrence Gap, Holetown and Speightstown. Among them, Bridgetown is both the capital and tourism and shopping center of Barbados. The name of this city comes from the characteristic of the city that the two bridges span the Constitution River.
