Ho Chi Minh City developed the world's leading chip manufacturing technology
The city will focus on developing SOTB technology to catch up with the global trend and create a leap in the development of the IC industry.
HCMC invests in the development of microchip technology
At the Seminar on SOTB Design and Manufacturing Technology - Great opportunity for Vietnamese ICs, just took place in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Ngo Duc Hoang - Director of Circuit Design Research and Training Center (ICDREC) for know, this unit is about to successfully test the chip designed and manufactured with the most advanced technology in the world today.
'This technology is a trend in the world and we are working on it, expected early next year to have products. When completed, HCMC will catch up with global technology trends , 'said Hoang.

The IoT (Internet of Things) trend is growing strongly, devices that consume low power and use PIN are an integral part of this trend. These devices require very low power consumption but increasingly complex and integrated circuits have led to an increase in power consumption.
Therefore, SOTB (Silicon on Thin BOX) advanced design and manufacturing technology has created a revolution to reduce power consumption for microchips. This is a new and potential technology being developed and applied in developed countries in the world such as Japan, America, France .
SOTB is expected to be a core technology to help Vietnam quickly become one of the leading countries in IC design. SOTB is applied in many fields such as transportation, education, electricity .
Dr. Le Thai Hy - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications - said that to bring SOTB technology to Vietnam, the research team took a long time. The research team consists of many members aged 28-30, they must learn experts through the Internet and then do it themselves .
Mr. Tat Thanh Cang - Vice Chairman of HCM City People's Committee - highly appreciated ICDREC's focus on researching SOTB technology. Although this technology is not new to the world, it is a breakthrough in IC development technology in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the whole country. SOTB itself is very small but will make great changes in the city.
'I was very moved to know this information, HCMC is the place where the microchip industry developed but not many leaders understand its importance. The city will have support for these activities because to become a modern city, the microchip is the backbone , 'Mr. Cang emphasized.

Mr. Cang also appreciated ICDREC's steps when this unit left its subsidized thinking. The unit makes its own products to develop rather than research it, etc. The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also said that in the near future, more work will be done with the Microchip Industry Development Program, rearranging activities , structure to stabilize and develop.
'I will convene a meeting of large businesses, there are many applications in life with ICDREC to discuss and link to commercialize products .' , Mr. Cang said.
At the seminar, ICDREC also announced the minutes of signing with Reresas Company (Japan) about the cooperation in SOTB technology development in the fields of training, technology transfer, trial production . in Vietnam. This is considered a new development in the development of IC industry in general as well as the development cooperation in SOTB in particular.
