Of which nearly VND 125 billion is from the Science and Technology budget granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the remaining 21 billion is invested by Saigon Industry Corporation (CNS). This is also the first production project for a research unit that the Ministry has accepted for investment with the largest amount of money since ancient times. Participating in this project are universities and research institutes.

The project aims to produce several tens of thousands of low-frequency HF and high frequency UHF RFID chips applied in goods identification and management . Along with that, the project team will also launch RFID card readers and other devices. This card application system. It is expected that these products will be launched in the third quarter of 2014. The project will be implemented in four years (2011 - 2015).

Mr. Nguyen Quan, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said: This is a necessary and initial project for Vietnam to master microchip technology, semiconductor technology from design, manufacturing to manufacturing for commercial needs as well as in many other areas.

RFID is a remote radio frequency identification technique. RFID tags can attach to different types of products and people can use computers to remotely manage products. Paying when shopping in today's supermarkets by hand-scanning the product to the cash register is a concrete example of this application.
