In Dracula's hometown, even the house makes people feel cold!

Walking through the streets of Sibiu, Romania, surely many people will have a cold feeling as if the eyes are observing their every gesture and action.

This strange feeling is not due to the imagination but it is because of the unique architecture only available in Sibiu city , where houses with windows bring an eye on the roof. Many houses in the south and east of Sibiu, Romania, have such a window. They feel like this city never sleeps and whether it is morning or night they will always watch over the people here little by little.

These windows were built to cool the attic floor , where the locals often used to store meat, cheese and cereals.

Such a special window shape is to increase optimum ventilation and cooling efficiency but can still prevent direct sunlight from entering the interior. According to the document, these eye-shaped windows were built around the 15th to the 19th centuries.

Although the use of the eye window is obvious, many people still insist that their original purpose is to bring a sense of fear to everyone, reminding that there are always people following them from high above and forced them to know how to behave properly, not to do anything obscure.
