Install 'tap' to collect water from the sky

A wind-powered device can provide endless water by gathering water from the air, an Australian inventor declared.

Dr. Max Whisson, a retired medical expert, said he designed a high-performance wind turbine that can operate a system that collects cold water and condenses moisture from it.

"The wind carries water vapor and also brings enough energy to separate water from the air," Whisson said. He argued that a large amount of water existed in the atmosphere, and the amount of water was renewed every few hours. That means the whole world can just use water from the sky without destroying the environment.

The system, according to Whisson, can even gain quite a bit of water in areas with low humidity. This 4 square meter device can extract an average of 7,500 liters of water per day.

In design, moisture-carrying air will enter the system and be cooled by the pressure behind the turbine blades. The air then runs into a chamber containing cold metal plates painted with an impermeable surface, so that the droplets form will roll immediately into a collection point.

The full detail of this design has not been announced, but at least one mechanical expert expressed doubt."I find that in general, inventors tend to exaggerate the capabilities of their devices. They just feel very rudimentary about the capabilities of such products. They will face real problems, ' said Professor John Reizes, from the University of New South Wales. According to him, to obtain that large amount of water would require a huge amount of energy. But Whisson trusted his wind turbine enough to supply that energy.
