Invent the image thinking machine

With this machine, all your thoughts will show up on the screen as a movie for the whole world to see.

The science team from Oregon University has built a system that can read people's thoughts. By scanning the brain and making the faces that the object thinks of in the head, the machine will make the thought show the image.

"We can take someone's memory - though it is a deep and private part - and pull them out of their brains," one of the team members, neurologist Brice Kuhl said. with Brian Resnick on Vox.

The scientists selected 23 volunteers and composed a 1,000-person image of random colors. Volunteers will be shown these photos while connecting to the fMRI function resonator scanner (used to detect lies). It allows experts to see subtle changes in brain blood flow to measure their neural activity.

The fMRI machine is again connected to an artificial intelligence program (Al) to read the participants' brain activity while making a mathematical description of each face they are exposed to in real time . The researchers set up 300 numbers to describe certain physical features on the face to help the AI " see" them.

Basically, this stage is training for AI. It needs to know how neurological activities correlate with some physical features on the face.

Once the AI has formed enough code to record brain activity, the team begins the second phase of the experiment. This time, the AI is connected to the fMRI device and finds the face that looks like the face on the participant's brain. Scientist faces for participants in this round are completely different from the previous round.

The machine recreates each face based on activity from two distinct regions in the brain, including angular coils (ANG) - involved in a number of language-related processes, number processing, cognition time and the formation of vivid memories; Peripheral cortex (OTC) - visual signal processing.

This invention is expected to be an effective support for the police during the criminal investigation. The witness does not need to describe, just think and visualize the identity of the criminal, which will help us to accurately outline the suspect.

The team continues to perform more difficult tasks. They let participants identify a face, ask volunteers to keep it in memory and then the AI must reconstruct the face in the memory of the participant. This is very difficult.

Although not yet perfect, but with the technology is progressing, the reading results give a beautiful image that may not be far away from us.
