Israel launched a spacecraft to the Moon in 2019

An Israeli nonprofit organization plans to land an unmanned airship on the Moon in February 2019.

According to Ido Anteby, the executive director of SpaceIL, their unmanned space ship has four carbon legs, which will be launched by one of the SpaceX Falcon 9 fire in December 2018.

The spacecraft will land on the Moon on February 13, 2019, transmitting images and videos to Earth, as well as measuring the Moon's magnetic field.

"Our spacecraft is the smallest ship ever landed on the Moon," Anteby said.

Since 1966 there have been 12 landings on the Moon conducted by Russia and the United States. The last time a spacecraft was sent to Ms. Hang was in 2013 by Chinese people.

SpaceIL was founded in 2011 by a group of engineers with a budget of about US $ 90 million and they have to sacrifice the size and operability of unmanned space ships to make the journey to conquer the Moon. more fruit.

SpaceIL spacecraft was introduced on July 10, at Israeli defense contractor Aerospace Industries, about 1.5 meters tall and weighs 585kg (1.290lb). The spacecraft has four legs made of carbon and two-thirds of its weight is fuel.

After being launched into orbit, the spacecraft will start operating at an altitude of 60,000km above the ground. It will fly in an elliptical orbit and two months later it will enter the Moon's orbit. The ship will slowly decelerate and land softly on the Moon.

"Landing is the most complicated part. The selected landing site is relatively flat and the spacecraft has contact with Earth at that time. From the time of operation until the start of landing it will be completely self-driving. " Mr. Anteby said.

SpaceIL is backed mainly by private sponsors, including American casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and billionaire Morris Kahn, co-founder of Amdocs, one of Israel's largest high-tech companies.
