Jackets turn into sleeping bags and tents in just a minute

The inside of the shirt is made of Tyvek material, which is often used to make construction jackets for construction workers. The inside is also lined with a Mylar insulation, a material commonly used as a lining for socks and gloves.

Since last year, more than 2 million Syrian, Afghan and Iraqi people have migrated because of fear of war. One of their challenges during these long journeys is sometimes to fall into the sky and land.

To solve this problem, British Royal College of London students designed a jacket that could transform into a sleeping bag or tent in just a minute . The shirt is named the Smart Mobile Tent for Syrian migrants.

When the sleeping bag is spread out, the zipper is up to the chest level, we will have a sleeping bag, with a hood used as a pillow. If you want a tent, you just need to blow in the air to stretch the shirt. According to the original design, users need to have a support stand to set up a tent, but with improved air blowing, the rack has been removed.

This invention has been exhibited at the Global Grad Show, an exhibition organized by students of the world's leading design schools. The exhibition is within the framework of Dubai Design Week, which took place at the end of October. This is also the world's largest self-designed student exhibition held for the first time in 2015.

When in the form of a sleeping bag, the shirt holds an adult and a child, while in a tent form, can accommodate up to four people. Inside the jacket, there is also a bag to hold passports, money or papers.

The inside of the shirt is made of Tyvek material, which is often used to make construction jackets for construction workers. The inside is also lined with a Mylar insulation, a material commonly used as a lining for socks and gloves. Anne Sophie Gray, one of the product designers, said the jacket only weighs about half a kilogram.

Currently this shirt has not been sold yet. The group of product design students raised $ 17,000 on Kickstarter earlier this year, but are still looking for other sources of investment to put the product into mass production. The design team said that to produce on a large scale will need additional costs. They also hope that these mobile tents can be donated someday to migrants through charity. However, this is only an idea but not a specific plan. If worn, the product will cost from 20.9 to 28.5 USD.

Although derived from the desire to solve difficulties for migrants, Gray said, this mobile tent is also very suitable for those who like to go camping or exploring thanks to useful features.
