Japan provided tsunami warning equipment to four ASEAN countries
Officials of the Japan Meteorological Bureau (JMA) said the JMA has added four ASEAN countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore to the list of countries that will be provided with a tsunami warning device by the JMA where possible. Major earthquakes occurred in the Pacific Northwest region.
The warning device that will predict the tsunami will hit the coast after a 6.5 magnitude or more earthquake, the information will be transmitted to 65 marine meteorological forecasts of 10. country within 20-30 minutes from the time of the earthquake.
Earlier, the JMA had entered the names of Russia, South Korea, China, the Philippines, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea on the list of countries to receive tsunami warning devices.
