Japan turns 'electronic waste' into medals for the 2020 Olympics

In an effort to contribute to the "green world," the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games 2020 in Japan said it would turn e-waste into medals for this event as well. Paralympic World Paralympic Games take place soon after.

According to the plan, the Organization Board of the Olympic Games will collect 8 tons of metal throughout the country, to build 5,000 medals for two Olympic and Paralympic events.

Experts estimate the total cost for the Olympics to reach nearly $ 30 billion, more than four times the initial estimate and nearly three times the cost of the 2012 Olympics.

However, late last year, the organizers of the 2020 Olympics announced a planned $ 17 billion plan, including the creation of medals from electronic waste.
