Lam Dong: Many rare orchids are in danger of extinction

Many rare and endemic orchids (only in Lam Dong) are at risk of extinction due to overexploitation by local people.

VNA quoted the experts of Da Lat Biology Institute, saying that there are about 400 species of Cymbidium in Vietnam, there are more than 70% of species in the mountainous areas of Lam Dong province. But they are in danger of extinction very high, due to the local people rampant exploitation to sell to spread players in Dalat - Lam Dong and tourists with very cheap prices.

This area also has 10 out of 12 species of extremely rare and endemic orchids in Vietnam. Many species of orchids not only have great value in terms of biodiversity but also have artistic value, economic value . very high.

According to Dr Biology Duong Tan Nhut, the deputy director of Da Lat Biology Institute, the authorities and agencies such as forest rangers, science and technology . of Lam Dong need to have strong protection measures spread.

At the same time, the State needs to invest quickly in endemic orchids to protect and develop this rare resource.
