Lipomycin M - Moisturizer for soil
After 5 years of investigating the microorganisms of bare land and bare hills in 2 provinces of Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho, Department of Research of substances with
Biological characteristics (Vietnam Institute of Biotechnology - Institute of Science and Technology) have isolated a set of mucus-producing microorganisms, including soil yeast strains Lipomyces starkeyi PT7.1 . Based on the specific biological characteristics of this yeast strain, the researchers developed a technological process for producing soil moisturizing composition with the brand name Lipomycin M (Lipomycin is derived from the name of the yeast. LipomycesL; M originated in English 'moisture', meaning moisture) and was successful in the experimental scale.
Lipomycin M moisturizing composition is produced by porous fermentation method on cassava powder. Fermentation time 5 days. After stopping fermentation, drying the inoculant to 12-15% moisture, adding preservatives and packaging. Shelf life 2-3 months after packaging. The number of L.starkeyi yeast PT7.1 in Lipomycin M preparations is 108 CFU / g, meeting Vietnamese fertilizer standards.
Moisturizing effect of Lipomycin M:
- Reduce water evaporation and increase soil moisture (maximum moisture and maximum hydroscopic moisture content of soil).
- Helps make soil softer, increasing the number of earthworms, invertebrates and other useful microorganism groups in the soil.
- Improve some physical and chemical properties of soil: Soil acidity tends to decrease; easily digested phosphorus content and exchange cations such as Ca + 2, Mg + 2 increased.
- Non-toxic, safe with soil ecosystem.
How to use:
Apply around the stump, or trace a groove (if planting in a bed), fill up the soil and water. If there are no irrigation water in dry areas, apply at the end of the rainy season or early dry season. When drought, Lipomyces yeast exists in the soil as spores, until it rains, spores multiply, create mucous membranes to increase soil texture, reduce water evaporation and increase soil moisture.
Dosage: 20 g / stump (for seedlings) and 30-35 g for plants with a height of 1.5-2.0 m. Should be mixed with multi-function micro-organic fertilizer or NPK fertilizer. When fertilizing and mixing with the above fertilizers, the moisturizing efficiency increases by 10-15% compared to applying individual Lipomycin M preparations.
Some application results:
Soil moisturizing microbial product Lipomycin M has been applied to increase the moisture content and improve some physicochemical properties of soil at the field test scale at Me Linh Biodiversity Station, Vinh Phuc. Test results showed that Lipomycin M preparations increased soil moisture by 10 to 15% compared to control in the dry season.
Currently, the research team is able to provide a small amount of inoculants for facilities that need testing.
In the drought situation in many places in Vietnam, the use of microbial preparations Lipomycin M to increase soil moisture is one of the useful solutions to help farmers overcome difficulties in the dry season.
