Manufacture of hydrophobic wood adhesives from waste sponges
Tran Dinh Dai, a 3 rd year student of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Binh Phuoc Rubber Industrial College (Dong Xoai Town, Binh Phuoc), has initiated the creation of a hydrophobic resin adhesive.

In the beginning of 2011, in one go see the type of foam to make buckets, decorate ... are released a lot, Dai has come up with the idea of creating 'wood glue from waste foam'.
Materials for making hydrophobic wood adhesives include foam, presses, technical scales, essential chemicals ... The method is to prepare two pieces of plywood and planks together with the waste foam The waste is dissolved in acetone and ethoxetate solutions at appropriate rates. The items were tested with 2 samples: sample 1 (plywood) after mixing the related substances and then put into the standard mold, pressed on the press for 7 minutes. At a pressure of 800 psi (5.5 MPa) and a mold temperature of 800C, 20 x 20 cm can be obtained.
For sample 2 (plank) for adhesive applied to the surface of one of the two panels obtained from a test sample, with a mass of 1 g / 10 cm. Place two slabs of wood neatly over each other, put in the press and pressed with force of about 50 Psi. Combining the two samples together, we obtain a complete hydrophobic wood glue.
