Meteor in the sky of Hanoi

On the afternoon of October 22, Ms. Thoa and her colleagues worked on the 12th floor, Nam Trung Yen urban area for the first time witnessed meteor shower in the sky. Many people in Hanoi also admire this amazing phenomenon.

Mr. Hoang, a villager in Giap Bat, said when he saw the meteor shower around 17:00 on October 22.

According to an astronomer, meteor showers are ice, rock, and dust particles (remnants of Halley comets) that accumulate to form dust clouds. When orbiting the earth through this dust trail, small pieces of matter burn in the atmosphere, creating long light trails (meteor shower). Looking up at the sky, the meteor streaks seem to emanate from a constellation, and they are often named after the constellation.

The meteor shower on 21-22 October occurred near the constellation Orionids, and at night was the most appropriate time to watch.

"According to observations, on the night of October 21, every hour there are 5-6 meteorites but much lower than the scientists' prediction," the expert said.

According to him, this year there were many meteor showers and on 21-22 / 10 is not the best meteor shower. "Normally, November 14-18 will have the most beautiful meteor shower of the year, from the constellation Leonids (Lion)."

Earlier, August 12 also appeared meteor shower Perseids, one of the largest meteor shower of the year.

In the coming time, there will be meteor shower: South Taurids (peak on November 6), North Taurids (11-12 / 11), Leonids (November 14-18), Geminids (December 14) and Ursids (December 22-23).

Meteor shower almost appeared at the same time in a year. The reason is that cosmic dust particles are distributed in elliptical orbit and orbiting the Sun in a certain period. If the Earth's orbit crosses the orbit of some cosmic dust, at least every year at the right time, the Earth will once through that cosmic dust and meteor shower in that time.
