'Miracle' in the town located in the world's most arid desert

For many, the town of Huacachina with its clear blue water and lush vegetation is a miracle between the Peruvian desert.

Nestled among towering sand dunes in Atacama, the world's driest desert is an oasis. When the first time the travelers traveled through the desert to discover this place, with the lagoon full of water and the good vegetation surrounding them, they couldn't help but be happy.

Although scientists have proven that the lagoon is naturally formed , the Peruvian people still communicate each other about a myth.

Legend has it that before there was a beautiful Inca princess came to bathe in the oasis area. While bathing, she accidentally found a hunter who was secretly peeking at her. Confused, the princess immediately ran away from this place. The mirror she had brought crashed, and the small pieces formed a lush oasis in the desert like today. The cloak she forgot to turn into giant sand dunes.

Peruvian people believe that the princess has turned into a mermaid and is still living in the lagoon. Occasionally on the moonlit nights of the cool wind, she will appear on the water and take her clear, beautiful voice to sing for everyone to hear.

Huacachina town began to be built in the 1940s. At that time, the wealthy class in Peru chose this place to rest and cure. By the 1990s, local people began to care about this oasis. They pour money here to invest in business, attract tourists, according to Culturetrip.

Today, Huacachina is a prosperous oasis, with a large number of visitors. Around the lagoon area are restaurants, hotels, convenience stores and travel companies. Hundreds of townspeople live mainly on tourism.

To Huacachina, visitors will have the opportunity to play desert games such as sand slides, driving terrain . However, these trips are not for the faint of heart. One of the most beloved adventure games here is to climb to the top of a sand dune, then stand on a skateboard called the sandboard and slide down.

Also because the amount of tourists in recent years has fallen to Huacachina East, the water level in the lagoon is decreasing significantly. The main reason comes from hotel restaurants digging underground wells with oases to get water. Besides, it is due to water evaporation and less rain. However, this does not reduce the ambition of investors. They planned to get water from the nearby town of Ica with a pump to supply water to the town.
