Mountain on Mars is higher than Mount Everest

The Curiosity probe of the US Space Agency (NASA) sent a panoramic picture of the 5,486m high mountain on Mars.

After more than eight months of Mars exploration, NASA's Curiosity probe captured a panoramic view of the 5,486-meter-tall Aeolis Mons in the center of the Gale Crater basin on the red planet.

Mount Aeolis Mons is nearly 5,486m high on Mars.

With a height of 5,486m, Aeolis Mons surpasses the height of the highest mountain on Earth Everest and is high equivalent to Mons Huygens - the highest mountain on the Moon.

Mount Aeolis Mons, known by another name Mount Sharp , has a peak covered with a layer of eroded sediments. The bottom rib of Mount Sharp will be the final destination of the Curiosity probe in the Mars journey.

The panoramic picture of Mount Sharp is assembled from dozens of photographs taken from the remote Curiosity probe. NASA has announced two versions of the image. A photo has the same light mode on Earth, while the other image remains the same color.

Last week, NASA announced the results of an analysis of a Martian rock sample collected by the Curiosity probe. The chemical components in this sample show that the red planet may have been in a suitable environment for life to grow.

Scientists found that sulfur, hydrogen nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and carbon in the sample were obtained by the Curiosity probe. These are essential substances for life to grow on Earth.
