Mountain students build aircraft to explore fires

Realizing that fires often occur in the locality during the summer, a mountainous student in Thua Thien - Hue province has studied and built a plane to explore fires.

It is Le Quy Duc (9th grade, Khe Tre town secondary school, Nam Dong district, Thua Thien - Hue province).

Practical ideas for life

Quy Duc said, Nam Dong is a mountainous district with the advantage of key crops as raw materials such as acacia, pine, rubber. In summer, the hot sun has a very high risk of fire. In the area, there were big fires, rugged terrain, difficult to observe, difficult to offer approaches and fire fighting.

" Therefore, I think it is necessary to have an overhead flying device with a camera to observe and monitor to come up with countermeasures. At a young age, I dream of flying in the sky, but when I grow up, I Knowing that I could not do it, I sent that dream through the flight model, 'said Duc.

Quy Duc added, his father is also passionate about this subject. But my father's plane is usually imported from overseas or designed by professional companies, each such plane has a very high cost.

Sometimes going to see my father fly, just a small mistake is the plane will be broken into pieces, very economic damage. So I had the idea of ​​making an airplane from cheap materials, but still functioning as a real airplane.

In March 2016, Duc Duc began to work on the idea. After over a month of concentrating all the effort and help from teachers and dads, I finally completed and tested well in many places with large spaces.

The project was built on the basis of the jet propelled air propeller device, the fuselage made of light foamed aerodynamic panel to help the aircraft glide faster.

When there's an airplane, I think it's necessary to apply it to aerial reconnaissance, especially forest fires and I have attached it to a camera taken from the flycam that I can get.

The difficulty that I encountered in the process of implementing the plane is the cutting of the plane's shape or fault, the circuit is quite difficult and the control of the plane is still malfunctioning. However, this has been overcome and so far, German aircraft have been mastered.

My products can be applied in mountainous, remote, border and island districts, where the poor are still poor, have no conditions to invest in fire prevention and rescue.

Aircraft to explore cheap fire

Quy Duc shared that the aircraft operates according to the principle of jet, the engine pushes the wind back and the plane goes to.

When you need to fly the aircraft will control the two wings on both sides, when you want the plane to go up and down, control the tail. All are controlled by 3 channels from the remote control. The camera will record and transmit signals to the phone or computer to observe.

" The new element of the subject is that the aircraft can operate within a radius of 500 meters, can observe the ground by an airplane camera via telephone by a wifi wave broadcast by the camera. The height of the aircraft allowing to observe clearly the fire or objects from above, the speed of the aircraft may be about 30km / h slow so that the camera can observe, " said Quy Duc.

Aerial flying equipment is often seen as a luxury toy for wealthy customers, imported products abroad at expensive prices and also at a level of luxury. But in my flight device, with homemade ingredients, scraps from scrap and reclaiming from other damaged equipment, it costs about VND 350,000.

My flying device is attached with wifi signal camera to my phone or computer to observe objects on the ground like fire .

The product won the first prize in the Nam Dong District Youth and Children's Creative Competition in 2017. Currently, the product is brought to the Creative Youth and Children Contest in Thua Thien - Hue Province in 2017.

In the future, if invested strongly in finance, I will assemble more powerful engines, the fuselage replaces from foam to other materials such as gypsum ceramic (usually used as a ceiling fan ), attaching a high-definition camera, fast recording speed, combined with the controller using GPS waves to increase the operating radius, my device can be used for many different purposes such as searching rescue and observation of forest fire prevention, reconnaissance, reconnaissance of military targets.
