Mysterious blue sand dunes on Mars

NASA has announced a strange and colorful sand dune structure that has been sent back to Earth by the Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Recently, NASA's Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) detected a strange blue triangular sand dune near the Lyot Crater.

NASA scientists say the dunes are smoother and seem to have a different structure from the surrounding.

At the same time, the dunes of the dunes are due to chemical reactions between the dunes in the sand dunes and some other chemical compounds in the crater layer , but what is specific is unclear.

Often the dunes accumulate in the depths of the crater, and then lava is brought to the surface. Terrible strong winds on Mars may be responsible for the fancy shape of this sand dune.

The remaining pictures provided by the MRO in this round are also very interesting, many of which show that the snow and ice still has marks on the surface of Mars when winter has passed.

In some other photos, snow ice has melted but makes the Martian surface have strange shapes. Mars also has a snowy season like Earth, but only in these ice layers is made of CO2.

And when the "dry" ice on Mars is exposed to the sun, it will create unique lines on the arid surface of the planet.

Here are some photos sent by MRO:
