NASA burns spacecraft to study flames in space

NASA will create a fire with the Cygnus spacecraft to learn how the fire works in space.

NASA plans to burn the cargo ship Cygnus, which has been launched into space to study the fire in the universe , reported on October 24.

Cygnus was launched with the Orbital ATK missile last week to deliver supplies to the International Space Station (ISS). It was filled with garbage to burn, creating a big fire in space after completing the transport mission.

This experiment is called Saffire-II , which is part of NASA's burning experiment chain. When Cygnus burns, 9 other sample materials will be burned with it. Electronic devices and sensors will record the process of fire taking place and transmit data to the fire.

This is the second time NASA has done this experiment. Its purpose is to observe the fire, thereby helping scientists better understand how the fire takes place in the universe. This experiment can help NASA find a way to cope in the event of explosions and other dangerous situations in the universe, especially when people are planning further missions in space.

"Many experiments conducted by NASA on the shuttle and the International Space Station are limited in size and scope due to the risk of fire and explosion to the crew. Therefore, understanding how the fire spreads. In a zero-gravity environment is an important factor for the safety of astronauts living and working on space, " NASA press release stressed.
