Nasa reveals the new spacecraft model

The US Space Agency (NASA) announced on May 24 a plan to develop a new generation space exploration ship, which could help astronauts set foot on meteorites and later Mars. .

According to Fox News , the new spacecraft, called the multi-purpose spaceship (MPCV) , will be designed based on the Orion spacecraft model .

Orion is part of NASA 's Constellation program with the aim of bringing US astronauts back to the Moon by 2020. However, this program was killed by US President Barack Obama last year.

To replace the canceled Constellation program, NASA was tasked with bringing people to a meteorite in the universe in 2025 and bringing astronauts to Mars in 2030. NASA decided to design the vessel. MPCV new universe to serve this ambitious plan.

' We will bring people to explore areas on Earth's low orbit. We are developing new generations of spacecraft to serve this task, 'said Charlie Bolden, NASA director, in an official announcement.

Lockheed Martin, NASA 's Orion spacecraft partner , will continue with the MPCV ship development project. This new generation spacecraft is capable of transporting four astronauts for three-week expedition missions. MPCV 's landing site on Earth is the Pacific region, off California.

NASA also said that MPCV spacecraft will be 10 times more secure than the current shuttle generation. In addition to the task of sending astronauts to explore meteorites and Mars, the MPCV can also be used in missions to transport people and equipment to the International Space Station (ISS) .

In parallel with the development of the MPCV , NASA is also developing a new generation of rockets called Ares 5 . They are designed based on the Ares 1 rocket model, which was created to serve the Orion spacecraft .

Under the plan, NASA must complete the development of the MPCV and Ares 5 boosters in 2016. However, NASA thinks they may need more time for these ambitious projects.
