NASA extends the list of life-like planets

Scientists are slowly discovering that life can withstand and survive in tougher environmental conditions than previously thought.

According to a new report published in PNAS, the US Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) is seeking to relax some of the restrictions on the planet that can nurture life.

NASA expert Chris McKay has set up a new list of second Earth candidates, based on recent findings on the resilience and adaptability of life.

According to the report, Dr. McKay lists a series of new features that he says could allow life to exist on planets, moons, or even objects that were previously paralyzed on dead ground.

The expert pointed out that some microorganisms were detected in very harsh environments, with temperatures much lower than the 0 degree Celsius.

Even a small amount of water can support life, and the atmosphere contains only one tenth of the oxygen content that is still enough for an organism to exist.
