NASA launches a new space telescope

The US National Space Agency (NASA) said it would launch the James Webb space telescope in 2018 with a five-year operational plan.

Worth $ 8.7 billion, James Webb (JWST) is equipped with technologies capable of detecting light from the first stars shining in the universe.

Overcoming the $ 2 billion budget estimate has made politicians want to cancel JWST in 2012.

However, NASA has fiercely protected JWST , and thinks it is one of NASA's top priorities.

Currently JWST is ready to operate.

This telescope continues to perform major tasks in space astronomy, combined with the largest images ever sent into orbit. Its infrared detectors allow remarkable discoveries about the early universe.

JWST is being prepared by NASA along with partners with Europe and Canada. Partners are providing 2 out of 4 instruments of telescopes and missiles to launch JWST into orbit. This commitment will ensure astronomers use 15% of the observation time on the observatory.
