According to the plan, the launch of Discovery ship with the mission of STS - 116 takes place at the launch platform 39B of Kennedy, Florida Space Station on 935 pm on December 7 at the east of the United States (8:30 am on December 8, VN time). However, the weather conditions did not allow.
The sky of Florida is too cloudy. NASA has just scheduled to continue launching the train in the next 48 hours, at 8:47 pm on December 9 (8:47 am December 10 hours). The crew included commander Mark Polansky, pilot William Oefelein, Robert Curbeam specialists, Nicholas Patrick, Joan Higginbotham, Sunita Williams and Christer Fuglesang, the European Space Agency astronaut (ESA).
This is the fourth trip since the 2003 Columbia disaster and the first night launch since the end of 2002. There are 100 cameras observing this launch. NASA tried to schedule the astronauts to keep up with the earth for the new year but if the weather continued to disallow, (December 17 is the deadline for the launch), they could pick up New Year 2007 on ISS space research station.
