NASA takes people to space in 2017

NASA is planning to stop working with the Russian Space Agency (Roskosmos) in bringing astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) starting in 2017. Replace for Russian 'Combined' vessels will be US-controlled vessels.

However, before that time, the international crews were still put into space by the Union ship. Experts estimate that the US must pay 65 million USD for a space on the Russian spacecraft.

NASA director Charles Bolden announced the reception of US commercial companies' applications to the manned spacecraft. Participating in this program are companies like SpaceX and Orbital Sciences. Expected fiscal year 2014 NASA spent on developing new spacecraft is 2.7 billion USD. The project is implemented in the form of public-private, of which 50% is paid by the state budget.

In the period of 2012-2013, SpaceX launched 2 times the only multi-use private cargo ship in the world on Dragon to ISS. The ship is put on orbit with Falcon-9 missiles. Under a contract with NASA, Dragon will carry out 10 more freight shipments to ISS.

For its part, Orbital Sciences has also brought Cygnus to the ISS with the Antares boosters. In the next 3 years, Cygnus will make 8 more flights to ISS.

Charles Bolden announced that when the US cargo ship secured transport, it would begin the period of bringing people to space. SpaceX and Orbital Sciences have begun developing man-made versions of human-powered spacecraft - these will be used to bring astronauts to ISS, and possibly to space travel .

Lockheed Martin and Boeing corporations are also developing a new type of Orion spacecraft, which is used to carry out long flights in space. Specifically, this ship can explore Mars and other asteroids.
