NASA's unique car competition

This April will take place the 15th annual Great Moonbuggy race of NASA, with homemade two-seat cars of students and students around the world, crossing half a mile of rough and rugged roads like above moon.

The competition was inspired after the exploration ships boarded the moon in 1971 during the Apollo 15. flight. Students were designed, built and directly involved in racing by students.

The first race took place in 1994, but until 1996 expanded the audience to high school students. The challenge in making a Moonbuggy is to solve a series of engine problems like the original Moonbuggy group had to face.

Each group consists of 6 members, not only participating in design but also building and testing vehicles. The 3 winners are the ones who make the race in the shortest time.
