Nearly 100 tons of fish died from chemical contamination in China

Chinese media reported on September 4 that about 100 tons of fish were killed by liquid ammonia poisoning from a chemical plant that leaked to the Phu Ha River, through the central province of Hubei.

According to Wuhan city government, since September 2, functional forces have recovered nearly 100 tons of dead fish on the 40km long section of the Phu Ha River, the section that runs through the city.

Tests of water samples taken on the morning of September 3 showed that ammonia concentrations reached 196mg / liter, far exceeding the permitted standard.

The company for the above chemical leak is based in the city of Hefei of Hubei Province and is also listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Wuhan City Environmental Protection Department asked the company to suspend operations and repair equipment causing leaks.
