Ngoc Long Ngoc Long set a new auction record: 22 million USD

An 18th-century King Qianlong (China) publication has just been successfully auctioned with a price of $ 22 million, surpassing the record of $ 14 million of jade auction in 2010.

According to the BBC, 22 million USD is 20 times higher than the expected price for this pearl model, introduced at the event held by Drouot auction house on December 14 in Paris, France.

The new owner of antiquities is an anonymous collector from China. This person is said to have won the " spoils" after a "very intense battle".

Medium-sized pearls are hand-sized, made from white-colored red slate, carved with 9 dragons. The Jade Palace belongs to King Qianlong (Qing Dynasty, China), one of the longest reigning emperors in Chinese feudal history.

This antiquity was bought by a French Navy doctor in China in the late 19th century. The precious seal was kept by his family since then.

The record of the auction of Qianlong King's seal was set up in 2010 in Taiwan (China) with the closing price of 14 million USD for the jewel model with 6 words of "Qianlong reigning".

On October 5, another jewel model of the Qing emperor was sold for $ 12 million during the fall of Sotheby's auction house in Hong Kong.

The Jade Jewel of Qianlong King is one of the Chinese antiques that the collector is very much sought after. The emperor could own about 25 different seal samples.

However, the auction of items of Chinese origin faces strong opposition from this country. Over the years, both the people and the government have always shown their anger whenever Western auctioneers offer antiques that they claim are stolen from China.
