The appearance is fierce, Nian's personality is even more terrible. It is said that, at the end of winter when there is nothing to eat, they will step ashore from the deep sea floor or descend from the top of the mountain on the first days of the new year to eat meat and cattle, and even villagers, especially children.

It also means, since New Year's Eve, all people will have to live in Nian's fear and harassment until the end of the winter.

Of course, the sufferings of early humans are great no night passes without a black family to mourn for loved ones who have been harmed by Nian.

So every year when New Year's Eve comes, the family members cannot celebrate the Tet holiday happily. They even had to order food in front of the house at the beginning of the year in the belief that the Nian beast would eat them and not touch them anymore.

However, the damage of both people and people is not much reduced. In the extreme, the whole village had to pull each other up the mountain, but no one dared to stay in the house because of fear of the action of the monster that crawled the lion's head.

The story is repeated every Tet holiday until a strange old man comes from far away. That old man with gray hair and ragged clothes appeared on the night the beast was about to attack the residential area.

Everyone in the village fled to the high mountains to preserve life. Everyone is rushing and rushing. The old man tried to ask what was going on, but no one was calm enough to answer but only quickly ran away.

Before that situation, a good old lady did not want to let him stay but died unjustly so he told everything and advised him to escape to the mountain with everyone.

Contrary to the urging mind of the other lady, the old man responded with a warm smile and said, please rest assured, he will have a way to chase the giant beast and ask to stay home for one night. Of course, no one believed the words of that eccentric somewhat strange stranger, even the old lady had to follow everyone up the mountain.

Night came, Nian aggressively stepped into the village in blood thirst, it frantically sabotaged the house, killing cattle. When I arrived at the house with the old man in which Nian stopped suddenly due to anxiety, the outside of the house was covered with red paper and the candles lit up everywhere in the room.

The frightened beast runs a circuit to the lair. Turns out, Nian has three great fears: red, fire and noise.

After the old man helped the villagers eliminate the graphics, there was no trace. Since then, every Tet comes, people paste red sentences, fireworks, and party feast to chase away beasts, welcome the new year as well as dismiss the unfortunate things of the old year.
