Night vision goggles can help American soldiers detect mines

The new night vision goggles are able to help American soldiers improve their ability to perceive situations in limited lighting conditions.

The US military deployed a prototype binocular night vision II (BNVG II) for the marines earlier this year and is expected to deploy in the second quarter of 2019, Marines on June 19 believe.

BNVG II consists of a binoculars and a thermal camera mounted on bulletproof caps, allowing soldiers to improve their ability to observe in depth at night.

The glass uses technology to enhance white phosphorus images to amplify light from stars, moons or other weak light sources. Thermal cameras will help US Marines observe the image more clearly, thereby recognizing the situation in conditions with little or no light.

"BNVG II helps soldiers observe the enemy from a distance and uses thermal imaging technology to detect explosives or radiant power of mine traps ," said US Army specialist Nia Cherry. know.

BNVG II also enhances the ability of observation for American soldiers in bad weather conditions such as rain, fog, dust or see through thick bushes.

"We practiced practically in San Diego in March. The US Marine Corps responded very positively to this new device. The ability to perceive the situation in depth caused by BNVG II has increased. accuracy in combat as well as the survivability of soldiers when performing tasks in limited lighting conditions , " said Joe Blackstone, head of the US Army's Optical Research Division.
