Nokia launches 5.9-inch foldable screen
The Screen Information Society recently hosted the 2014 Screening Week (SID 2014) in San Diego, USA. Many leading technology companies have come here to introduce new display technologies.
Samsung and LG are introducing OLED displays that can bend on the Galaxy Round and G Flex, while Nokia is introducing a new, ultra-attractive display technology.
Nokia, in collaboration with Semiconductor Energy Laboratory (SEL), has introduced two 5.9-inch screens (1280x720 pixel resolution) that can actually be folded in different ways at the SID 2014. In particular, It can double as a book, while the rest can fold in three as a wallet.
The industry is moving closer to the goal of providing a truly compact, truly compact product. But it may take a long time for these products to reach consumers.
