"The Norwegian government entrusts Avinor with the task of developing a program to create momentum for the introduction of electric aircraft into commercial aviation. It is a great experience to be on this flight and witness the development of the airline industry. " , Solvik-Olsen shared.

Avinor is working with partners to help Norway become the leading country in electric aircraft. The project is funded by the government. Some partners in the project include Wideroe Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines and ZERO environmental organization.

The project's goal is to make Norway the first country to have electric aircraft with a large market share and use them for domestic flights until 2040. "At Avinor, we want to prove that electric aircraft is available. Market ready, as well as helping Norway become a pioneer in electric aviation is the same as pioneering electric cars, " said Falk-Petersen.

"In addition to energy-saving measures, modernizing aircraft and putting electricity-powered aircraft or biofuels into use could help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Norwegian air transport in the next decade , " he added. Avinor intends to not charge light landing aircraft and allows free charging until 2025.
