The theme of this year's competition is 'Innovation for disadvantaged children and young people' with four small themes: Quality education for disadvantaged children and youth; Children and teenagers street; Children and youth are illiterate and unemployed; and Participation of children and youth in society.

Among the 250 projects of 32 provinces and cities participating in the contest, the 93 most quality and most suitable projects entered the final round of the prize at the Vietnam Innovation Day 2006.

Each of these projects displayed their creative ideas in a booth located at Horison Hotel. The World Bank jury and PEDC will split into small groups to visit each booth, discuss with creators of creative ideas and then select winners.

It is expected that about 50 prizes will be awarded in this contest with a total value of approximately 10 billion VND. Each prize is worth up to 10,000 USD. The final value of each award will be determined based on the specific needs of each selected project.

Also within the framework of Vietnam Innovation Day 2006, today at the Horison Hotel, Hanoi will take place two knowledge forums, including: Difficult children organized by PEDC and disadvantaged youth by the National Labor Organization organization. The announcement and award ceremony will take place in the afternoon of the same day.

The Vietnam Innovation Day was first organized in 2003 and became an annual event. The theme each year is studied on the basis of extensive consultations on issues of public interest such as: Action for a safer life (2003), HIV / AIDS initiatives (2004). , Action for the environment (2005).
